The Experience

Revel in stories of the famous Bay Islands as you take flight off the helipad at our seabase. Your pilot will navigate orbital views for guests while island-hopping over historic Alcatraz and Angel Island.

Learn about the Escape from Alcatraz, and see the buildings on this rocky outcropping from above. A flight pass offshore San Francisco before a smooth landing at Commodore Heliport in Marin completes the most unique way to see these iconic landmarks.

My husband surprised me with the helicopter ride!! It was amazing, I loved every minute of it. The pilot was so kind and pointed out things and shared so much with us about the city below. The staff was so kind and friendly. All around this was an awesome experience.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This adventure was the highlight of our trip! Soaring over the Golden Gate, Alcatraz & Marin County was breathtaking. The staff were so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this activity if you are visiting the San Francisco Bay Area.

What an amazing way to see the bay area! Got to see the pacific coast, the bridges, downtown SF, Alcatraz, Angel Island…etc. Really sunny day so the visibility was great.

Tour Specific FAQs

Check out our FAQ page for more information.

Do you have a minimum requirement of passengers for this flight? How many people can fit on this tour?

Group tours are paired at the time of booking, with helicopter tours requiring a minimum of two passengers. If you’d like a private tour in either the Robinson R44 (3 passengers), please email us.

When is the departure time for this tour?

Tour times vary. Once you’ve reserved your helicopter tour, please refer to your booking confirmation for your tour time.

Do you offer a shuttle service to your seaplane base for the Alcatraz Tour? What time will the shuttle pick us up from Fisherman’s Wharf?

You can purchase a shuttle service for tours when booking your reservation online. Shuttle pick-up times will be located on your reservation.

How can I book a Private Alcatraz Helicopter Tour?

Private tours are available by emailing info@seaplane.com. Please share 2-3 dates and times that would work to book your flight for you and up to four other guests.

We offer private tours, charters, and more via booking with a reservation expert.

Is there a weight limit for this tour?

Helicopter gross weight limit is no more 700lb for up to two or three passengers plus pilot. Passengers weighing more than 220lb (99.7kg or 15.7 stones) will need to purchase a second seat at the time of booking. We appreciate your understanding to keep the helicopter balance and flights safe.

Why do I only see booking options with a TFR note? What will I see on this tour?

Due to a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place over the San Francisco Skyline on your chosen date, we won’t be able to fly over Downtown SF or near Oracle Park. This TFR is specifically for Major League Baseball game days. However, we’ll still be flying over some amazing sights, including Mt Tam and Lake Alpine in Marin, as well as near Alcatraz Island, Angel Island, Sausalito, and Richardson Bay.

How does the Junk Fee Prevention Act affect the pricing of your tour?

The Junk Fee Prevention Act ensures that the price you see for our tours is the total price you will pay, excluding government-imposed taxes or fees. All mandatory fees, such as booking fees, are included in the displayed prices, providing transparency and avoiding any unexpected charges during the booking process.
